"Susanna was married to Nicholas Mahowald, he was born May 7, 1800 in and died Oct 10, 1853, both in Luxembourg.

Susanna Hoeltgen was the daughter of Jacques Hoeltgen and Madelaine Michels. She was born in Luxembourg.

(By 1857, four of her eldest sons had already come to New Market: John came in 1852, Mathias came in 1853, Nicholas came in 1856, and Jacob came sometime before 1857)

...so Susanna immigrated to the U.S. and arrived in New York on 27 Apr 1857, with 3 of her children: Anna, Marie, Mathias P (Matthew), and with her nephew, Frank. Today, six of her seven children are buried at St. Nicholas, except Marie Mahowald, born in 1832 (twin to Nicholas), cannot be located after arriving in the U.S. All the Mahowalds who immigrated to New Market are either descendants from Susanna, or her nephew Franz/Frank Mahowald"

GGG-Grandmother Susanna came from Luxembourg, at about age 56, to join her family in America. She settled in to a farm, 1.5 miles SW of the pioneer village of New Market Minnesota. There, she witnessed her children getting married, and helped as her family grew!
