Fortællende
Maria is believed to have been born about 1732, though no record of her birth or baptism has been located. She died sometime before 4 May 1808 when her heirs determined how to divide her property (see probate record below). The Letters of Administration for "Mary Rerick" are dated 20 Apr 1810.
WARNING: Maria's maiden name is unknown. Some have speculated it may be "Wise" or "Obermayer." After an extensive search to sort this matter out, I find that there is no evidence to conclude that she is George Overmire's sister, no evidence that George's sister came to America, and no evidence showing that Maria Rearick died 20 Apr 1810. These are probably errors that are being spread via the Internet. There is also no evidence to support Maria Rearick's maiden name as "Wise" or "Maria Catherine Wise." If anyone can provide credible documentation for Maria's actual birth or death dates, please contact Laurence Overmire.
