WARNING: Her parentage and maiden name are UNKNOWN. There is no credible evidence that she was called Barbara or that her maiden name was Bane as so many incorrectly show on the Internet.

WARNING: The original source for Anna's name being Bane is a letter by Pastor G. Flecht of Blankenloch published by the authors of the 1905 Overmyer History and Genealogy. For whatever reason, Pastor G. Flecht was mistaken. Blankenloch Courthouse records show Georg Obermeyer's wife was Anna Catharina, a Catholic. Her husband Georg was Protestant. Blankenloch church records identify her as Anna. Her maiden name is never mentioned in the records. Furthermore, Pastor G. Flecht erroneously reported that the witnesses at the baptism of John George Obermeyer were John George Bane and Henry Bane. In fact, those records clearly show the witnesses were Hans Joerg (John George in English) Raupp and Heinrich (Henry) Raupp. The relation of these Raupps to the Obermeyers, if any, is unknown.

There is an awful lot of false, inaccurate information on the Internet which is unfortunately causing problems and confusion for many. To properly honor our ancestors, however, we need the truth. That will require real evidence and documentation and could be difficult to ascertain as we go further back in time.
