Rud. Maurer Is Victim Of Train Crash
The deceased was born April 13, 1880 in the town of Schleswig, the third child and second son of Mr. and Mrs. Franz Maurer, now deceased. His entire youth was spent here, and with his father and brothers following the carpenter trade. Having reached manhood, he moved to Marathon county, where he was married and obtained employment in a sawmill. During the past years he had made his home on the farm of Michael Zinser, four miles from Kelly, and not far from Wausau.
Surviving the victim of the unfortunate accident are: A son, Earl, aged 23, who is studying electrical engineering at Cincinnati, Ohio; five brothers-Alvin at home and Jacob nearby, Herman on the homestead, August at Rockville, and Arthur and Edgar in Marathon county, in the vicinity of the deceased’s former home. Arthur accompanied the body to Kiel. A younger brother, Ed., died some years ago, as did the oldest of the children, a sister.
Funeral services were held at the old homestead where he was born, with interment in the Union cemetery, the Rev. August E. Hammann officiating.
