Roger R. Larsen, 93, of Blackduck, MN, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Society, Blackduck.

Memorial services will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church in Blackduck on Saturday, January 15 at 1 PM with Rev. Dan Heath officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted with arrangements

Roger was born on April 24, 1917 in Mizpah, Minnesota, the son of Rasmus and Christina (Gregersen) Larsen. He attended school in Mizpah. He started working in the woods at a young age logging with a team of horses. He worked for Axel Oldenborg farming in Blackduck and met his future bride, Edna "Pat" Oldenborg. They eloped and were married on September 2, 1939 in Cass Lake, MN. Roger and Pat lived for many years in Blackduck. For a while they lived in Mizpah and also in Bemidji. He worked for many years as maintenance supervisor for the City of Blackduck, and for Rich Ferdig plumbing for several years. He ran his own saw sharpening business after he retired. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and making his own beer. He is survived by his children: Nancy Finlayson of Bemidji, MN Sue Segersten of Lake City, FL Randy (Deb) Larsen of Blackduck, MN Cindy (Doug) Ellingson of Bemidji, MN Gary (Mary) Larsen of Blackduck, MN 22 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, "Pat"; his parents; a daughter Karolyn McNair; a son, John Larsen; a grandson Damon Larsen; and 2 sisters, Alice and Mildred.
